Écrivain, il est surtout connu pour son roman picaresque Histoire de Gil Blas de Santillane mais il bien est dommage d'oublier l'importance et abondance de l'œuvre de cet écrivain qui, s'il est l'un des premiers à vivre de sa plume, est aussi considéré comme le Père du roman réaliste ; sa plume décrivant scènes, faits, gestes, vie quotidienne dans ce Paris du XVIII° siècle.

Alain-René Lesage nous laisse aussi de de belles pièces de style appelé forain dont il est l'inventeur et qui étaient jouées sur les théâtres privés des foires parisiennes.

C'est un auteur à découvrir ou ne pas oublier !
