An Drinded-Karnag, La Trinité-sur-Mer en français, tire son nom de l'ancienne chapelle du village qui, avant 1864, s'appelait encore Lokeltaz - Locqueltas, lieu sacré de Gweltas, Gildas, signalé sous cette forme en 1750 pour la première fois connue.

Le toponyme breton traduit en français donnerait La Trinité-Carnac. An Drinded rappelle La Sainte Trinité des Chrétiens ; la commune lui doit son nom .
