Pour la cérémonie du Baptême, toutes les maisons d'Arvieux sont représentées. Pour les relevailles, la mère, sortant de l'église, donne trois morceaux de pain à la première personne qui se présente.

Le jeune homme, fait pressentir la jeune fille par un de ses amis appelé chammarot lors de cette fonction. Si le jeune homme est agréé par la jeune fille, il se rend chez le père de la jeune fille avec son père et le chammarot un samedi de son choix. Lors de cette rencontre, il réalise sa demande officielle et offre une pièce d'or de 20 francs, une forte somme pour l'époque, à la jeune fille.
L'affaire conclue, le dimanche avant le mariage, la future épousée offrira un lot d'épingles à ses amies.
