⌘ Étymologies et toponymes

Saint-André d'Embrun, en vivaro-alpin Sant Andreu d'Ambrun, est attesté au XIII° siècle pour la première fois connue dans les écrits: il apparaît sous la forme latine Sanctus Andrea dans le Cartulaire de l'Abbaye de Valbonne. Nous le retrouvons en 1284 dans les archives de l'évêché d'Embrun sous une forme identique.

Saint André, saint patron de la marine et apôtre, est le frère de Simon (Saint Pierre). Pêcheur, tout comme son frère, Saint André est le premier disciple de Jésus.
