⌘ Étymologies et toponymes

Plumelin, en breton Pluverin, est attesté en 1280 avec un Plemelin que nous retrouverons en 1288 sous forme identique et en 1387 avec un Ploemelin. L'année 1422; via les archives du Chapitre de Vannes, nous laisse lire un Ploemelen que nous reverront en 1516, 1554, 1572 avec un Ploemelin confirmé en 1731 par un Plumeslin.

Ce toponyme en plou signifiant paroisse, terre est placé sous la protection de Saint Melaine, ou Melanius, fut évêque de Rennes vers l'an 505.
