Le patrimoine de Beignon a bien souffert de l'agrandissement du Camp Militaire de Coëtquidan.

En 1910-1912, élargissant son emprise, le camp empiéta sur les communes environnantes dont Beignon. Les terres furent interdites à l'agriculture et les habitations expropriées furent rasées ainsi que les lieux de culte intégrés aux culte dont les chapelles de Sainte-Reine, Saint-Méen et Saint-Mathurin.

Amputé de beaux éléments, le territoire commmunal de Beignon garde néanmoins de beaux atours et son patrimoine reste passionnant et à visiter.

Inaugurée en 1882 par Monseigneur Bécel, la Chapelle de la Sainte-Vierge, aussi Chapelle de la Congrégation, s'est transformée pour passer de la nourriture de l'Âme Spirituelle à une nourriture de l'Âme Profane tout aussi importante.

Le bâtiment abrite maintenant la médiathèque de Beignon et, autrefois placée sous le vocable de la Vierge Marie, est maintenant placé sous le vocable de Simone Veil, femme elle aussi ô combien admirable !

Chapelle de Saint-Méen

Datée du XVI° siècle, la Chapelle de Saint-Méen - Chapel Sant Meven voyait belle dévotion et multiples pèlerins se recueillir en ce lieu ; et l'on venait de loin prier Sainte-Reine. La chapelle eut la malchance de se retrouver intégrée aux terrains expropriés pour agrandir le camp de Coëtquidan au tout début du XX° siècle mais vit son culte déplacé et une nouvelle chapelle construite pour abriter la Sainte.

Tout comme le Chapelle Saint-Mathurin, l'ancienne construction située au sud du camp et érigée entre 1683 et 1689 subit le pic et la pioche pour disparaître totalement.

La Chapelle Saint-Mathurin disparaîtra lors de l'agrandissement du camp militaire de Coetquidan.

Délabrée, la chapelle fut reconstruite ou rénovée en 1887 mais sera saccagée et détruite vers 1910-1912.

La Chapelle Sainte-Reine, construite à la fin du XVII° siècle, voyait innombrables pèlerins venir la prier. Située aux lisières de la lande de Coëtquidan, elle subira sort funeste lors de l'agrandissement du camp en 1910-1912 et sera détruite.

Son culte fut transféré dans le bourg et y est encore pratiqué.
