⌘ Étymologies et toponymes

Ak-Dovourak, en touvain et en russe Ак-Довурак, a l'avantage d'être aisément compréhensible pour une personne parlant touvain.

Le nom de la ville provient du touvain et signifie Terre blanche.

Au début des années 1930, des géologues soviétiques firent la découverte d'amiante chrysotile, roche fibreuse aux qualités exceptionnelles de résistance au feu et à la chaleur, d'imputrescibilité, de résistance mécanique et d'inertie chimique. Cancérigène, ce minéral est toujours utilisé sous forme d'amiante dans certains ciments emprisonnant ces fibres.
