Natif de Tarbes, Gilles Servat a bercé multitudes de Bretons, ou non-bretons, de ses musiques chants et textes aux fortes sensibilités. Si, avec La Blanche Hermine, une de ses chansons la plus connue et celle qui lança sa carrière, Gilles Servat nous fit connaitre ses révoltes, il a composé multiples textes d'un grand raffinement comme, et entre autre, Le Moulin de Guérande dont la mélodie et le texte sont d'une grande beauté.
Engagé pour la défense de la culture bretonne et de sa langue, artiste ayant participé à L'Héritage des Celtes, Gilles Servat reste un des grandes figures de la chanson de Bretagne. Ses chansons et textes passeront certainement à la postérité.
