⌘ Étymologies et toponymes

Saint-Jacut-les-Pins, en breton Sant-Yagu-ar-Bined et Sènt-Ighu en langue gallèse, doit nom au saint éponyme. Les pins a été rajouté au toponyme originel pour le différencier de Saint-Jacut-de-la-Mer et de Saint-Jacut-du-Méné et favoriser ainsi le développement du tourisme.

Jacut, fils de saint Fragan et sainte Gwen, frère de saint Gwethenoc, Sainte Klaervia - Clervie - et saint Gwenole - Guenolé, arrive en Bretagne au V° siècle, vers 460 semble-t'il. Saint Jacut est le fondateur du monastère qui portait son nom dans la commune de Saint-Jacut-de-la-Mer. Décadent depuis le XV° siècle, la tourmente révolutionnaire de 1789 finira de détruire un monastère qui est alors arrivé bien mal en point.

En 1387, les archives du Chapitre de Vannes nous dévoilent un Sanctus Jacutus qui nous sera confirmé avec les archives du château de Castellan qui nous laisse lire un Saint Jagu que nous découvrirons dans les archives du château de Vaudequip à Allaire sous la forme Saint Jegu ; nous étions en l'an 1486.
