⌘ Étymologies et toponymes

Guilliers, en breton Gwiler-Porc'hoet est attesté avec certitude en 1041 sous la forme Quilir, puis en 1164 avec un Guiler. On retrouve aussi ce toponyme certifié sur une cloche datée de 1315. Ofis ar Brezhoneg, l'office de la langue bretonne, signale ce toponyme en 1108 sous la forme Guilleri mais avec un doute.

Ce toponyme, tout comme Guilers et Guiler-sur-Goyen, semble dériver du villare latin désignant des domaines ruraux gallo-romains.
