Guengat, 30 décembre - Dans la petite commune de Guengat, une femme de 29 ans, mariée au boulanger Hénaff, vient de donner la mort à deux de ses enfants, la petite Marie-Renée, âgé de 5 ans, et le petit Hervé, âgé de 8 ans 1/2.

C'est dans un ruisseau mesurant à peine 0,25cm d'eau, mais où la mère criminelle les maintint allongés jusqu'à asphyxie complète, que les deux pauvres petits êtres ont trouvé la mort.

La femme Hénaff, qui s'adonnait à la boisson, a été arrêtée hier sur l'ordre du Parquet de Quimper qui s'était rendu au bourg de Guengat. On la croit irresponsable.

Regorgeant d'anecdotes ou de faits-divers, parfois croustillante, souvent sordide, parfois amusante, elle nous permet de ressentir la manière de pensée de nos aïeux, de ceux qui ont vécu en cette commune, en ce territoire, de ceux qui l'ont fait vivre et que nous visitons.

La presse du passé redonne vie aux simples citoyens, à ces gens qui n'auront jamais nom en livres d'histoire.

Il est plaisant d'y voir l'évolution des importances: en 1900, le commissaire fait une enquête pour un vol de jambon.

La violence est importante: violences ménagères ou non sont courantes, violences villageoises, banditisme ou non aussi ; les comptes se règlent à coups de poings, de bâtons ou autres armes.

Les cuites sont monnaie courante et pas exclusives de certaines régions: nombre de nos aïeux - ayant sans doute très soif, picolent sec !

Un prix spécial devrait être décerné à certains journalistes de cette presse ancienne: les coupures concernant les cuites et amendes en découlant sont parfois d'un humour extraordinaire.
