Nos aïeux - à Rochefourchat comme ailleurs, avaient souvent fort sens de la dérision et, jouant des sons et des mots, se gaussaient largement des uns et des autres.

Rochefourchat et sa remarquable fanfare, fut gaussée en 1900 par un certain Émile Maillefaud, agent-voyer - maintenant cantonniers, qui écrivit une ironique chanson dédiée à La Fanfaro de Ròchaforchaa dont voici les paroles en un provençal plein de saveur ; sa traduction française étant en regard.

Nous n'avons pas retrouvé la partition ou l'air, malheureusement...

La fanfare se composait
De quatre vingt quatre pistons,

Il enfonçait le baryton.

Il fallait entendre la contrebasse
Quand il donnait dans l’instrument,
Il faisait une telle grimace
Qu’il en fronçait les sourcils.

À Combovin ils concoururent,
Ils remportèrent le premier prix.
À chaque musicien, on donna
Quatre ou cinq paires de perdrix.

Comme le maire régalait,
Ils allèrent tous à son portail.
À chaque musicien, il offrit
Un cochon de quatre-cent kilos.

Cela leur donna un tel courage,
Un beau cochon sous le bras,
Qu’ils firent le tour du village
En jouant d'un pas redoublé.
