La commune de Guimiliau compte 1,511 habitants. Sa superficie est de 1,142 hectares. Ses revenus annuels s'élèvent à 1,055 francs.

Le bourg de Guimiliau est situé sur le chemin de grande communication de Penzès à Commana. Le chemin de fer de Paris à Brest, qui passe un peu au sud de Guimiliau, traverse la commune. L'église paroissiale est un édifice du XVI° siècle; l'intérieur renferme des fonts baptismaux très curieux et un buffet d'orgue orné de bas-reliefs remarquables. On voit dans le cimetière un ossuaire de 1618 et un beau calvaire.

On côtoie ensuite Guimiliau - 1523 hab - fabriques de toiles - Miliau, roi de Cornouailles, fut traîtreusement assassiné par son frère Rivod, qui se proclame roi vers 531. Le peuple et l'Église le mirent au rang des saints et il est encore aujourd'hui le patron de plusieurs paroisses bretonnes.
