■ Ranzières: Le Monument aux Morts

Le Monument aux Morts de Ranzièeres fut inauguré le 26 septembre 1926 sous la présidence de M. Taton-Vassal, député de la circonscription.

Une messe fut célébrée à 10h30 en l'honneur des enfants de la commune morts lors du tout juste terminé conflit de 1914-1918. L'Harmonie Municipale de Saint-Mihiel joua les musiques de ciconstance.

À 14h30, le monument fut officeillement inauguré par M. le Député de la conconscription, M. Taton-Vassal.

Les Monuments aux Morts rappellent les soldats morts pour le pays lors des derniers conflits. C'est la guerre franco-prussienne de 1870-1871 qui verront apparaître les premiers Monuments aux Morts du pays.

Toutes les communes de France ou presque voient leur monument édifié après la guerre de 1914-1918. L'épitaphe la plus courante est Morts pour la France sauf l'Alsace-Lorraine qui grave un Morts à la Guerre bien compréhensif.

Les Monuments aux Morts sont souvent oubliés lors de nos visites ; pourtant ils sont tranche d'Histoire importante et douloureux rappel des folies humaines.
