À vous vais raconter l'histoire:

— Un jour, je suis allé à la foire
De Belcaire, avec sa charrette,
Sur la Route, rapide et profonde,
Un marchand d'Avignon.
Ses amis l'accompagnaient
Au départ, et le batelier
Des commissaires... une bande !
Sur une feuille, ils étaient mentionnés ;
Mais non, je n'avais pas pensé
Il les paye ; forum un berger
J'ai demandé un sifflet
Pour libérer son troupeau.
« Je l'ai perdu, malheureusement ! »
Sur le bateau, le voyageur
Il voulait regarder les feuilles,
Pensant: J'aime les rasoirs.
Ainsi, il n'y aurait pas de confusion.
Sur la planche, il les a placées ;
Mais nous nous méfiions déjà
Qu'un mistral assez fort, bufabo ;
Et le vent les emporta...
Le berger resta seul,
Car, parmi les nuages de soupe,
Il pesait plus lourd que les autres.
Et, de retour en Belgique,
Le marchand dit:
Vous avez des amis, dans ce commerce.
Pour le berger solitaire, il rapporta
La flûte demandée,
Disant: Toi, tu siffleras !
Et les autres, en rang,
Ajèroun… une paume sur le nez !

Al depart, e lou carguèroun
De coumessius... un manat !
Sus un fulh las menciounèroun;
Mes cap, abio pas pensat
D'i las paga ; foro un pastre
Que demandabo un fiulèl
Per delarga soun troupèl.

— L'abiù perdut, per malastre !
Sul batèu, lou vouiachou
Voulguèt agacha las fulhos,
En pensant, ame rasou.
Qu'atal auriô pas d'embulhos.
Sul bourdage las pausèt ;
Mes ja nou se mesfisabo
Qu' un mistral prou fort, bufabo ;
E lou vent i las prenguèt...
La dal pastre restèt, soulo,
Per que, de soùzes coumoulo,
Mai que las autros pezèt.

— E, de retour a Belcaire,
Lou negouciant racountèt
As amics, aquel afaire.
Pel pastre soul, rapourtèt
La flabuto demandado,
En diguent: Tu, fiularas !
E lous autris, en rengado,
Ajèroun... un pam de nas !
