⌘ Étymologies et toponymes

Le Croisic, en Breton Ar Groazig, permettrait une étymologie simple en faisant dériver ce toponyme de Kroaz - la Croix, devenant un La petite croix avec ce suffixe breton -ig.

La paroisse du Croisic est attestée en 1406 sous la forme Le Croezic en Bas, probablement donné en langue gallèse, puis nous le retrouvons sous la forme Croaisic en 1415. Tout au long des siècles, ce toponyme garde forme stable et est attesté en 1732 dans les documents sous s forme bretonne qui est sa forme naturelle en ce pays de langue bretonne.

Certains voudraient faire dériver ce toponyme du mot breton Traezh désignant la grêve mais cela nous semble hasardeux.
