Ancienville, pour la première fois connue dans les écrits, est attesté en 1100, date à laquelle nous le découvrons sous la forme Uncivilla dans le cartulaire de l'abbaye de Saint Jean des Vignes. Nous retrouvons ce même toponyme sous la forme Antiqua villa en 1210 dans les archives de cette même abbaye.

Ce toponyme est aisé à comprendre et correspond à un domaine rural sans doute gallo-romain et devant être plus ancien que les autres de la région immédiate ; Ancienville n'est donc que la traduction littérale de Antiqua villa.
