⌘ Étymologies et toponymes

Aguilcourt est attesté, pour la première fois connue dans les écrits, en l'an 877 sous la forme Curtis Acutior. Nous le retrouvons sous les formes Curtis Agutior et Agutior Curtis sur le polyptyque de l'abbaye Saint Rémy de Reims, au IX° siècle. L'an 1104 voit un Agulcurtis.

Ce toponyme dérive de l'anthroponyme germanique Agilo, probablement un de ces germains qui vinrent défendre l'Empire Romain en décrépitude des Barbares venus de l'Est. -Curtis rappelle que ce lieu était un domaine rural germanique.
